replace XMLHttpRequest in client (e.g. VRSpaceUI) with fetch

Not trivial, and may not be doable. HXR and fetch do not treat relative URLs the same, and the client relies heavily on them.
Relative to what?
This may need to be revised first, and possibly (re)defined, e.g. relative to html document.
